Greetings from Reykjavik. Our Lupus Self-help group is now starting its second year, founded May 26th 1994. Our country's population being very small, members now are about 75 which is considered very good indeed. At our first meeting we had a rheumatologist, Dr. Helgi Jónsson, telling us everything about Lupus as a disease and in November we had another specialist, Dr. Kristján Steinsson, who talked about Lupus and genetics and is now conducting a big research here in Iceland on this. Last spring we had a psychiatrist, Dr. Kristinn T\masson, to discuss depression and the importance of good sleep and now we are getting ready for the fall meeting. We have also sent out newletters and tried to have an "open house". We would like to see more of actual self-help but this being rather new to us Icelanders we are taking small steps ahead and most of the self-help is taking place through the telephone right now.
The Lupus Self-help group of Iceland,
Best regards
