In the last "Caring and Sharing" we gave an account of our activities until the end of June 1996. Here is a summary of our meetings for the second half of 1996.

 

 

On the National Level

 

 

September 20th First Symposium on "Rare Disorders and Orphan Drugs"

September 20th - 21st First "Synovium" Days

Cité des Sciences et de l' Industrie, Paris

 

December 4th Presence of the AFL at the Telethon in Evry.

 

 

 

On the Regional Level

 

 

September 16th Rh^ nes-Alpes/Lyon

 

The "Resources Group" met the Chairman of the County Council on the subject of the compensating allowance for third persons (ACTP). Since November 2nd , 1992, the AFL is a member of the "Resources Group". Several associations are fighting together in order to draw the attention of the medias and the administrative authorities on the problems of the resources of the handicapped.

 

 

October 2nd Aquitaine/Bordeaux

 

Meeting of diseased and physicians on the subjects:

 

- dermatological and rheumatological aspects in lupus

- Vascular aspects in auto-immune diseases.

 

 

October 14th Boulogne/Rennes

 

Visit of a member of the World Health Organisation (WHO) and a member of the Public Health Services of the town of Rennes to the MAS. The AFL was present.

 

 

November 18th Rh^ nes-Alpes/Lyon

 

Demonstration of the "Resources Group". 3,500 petitions were undersigned and handed over to the political parties in order for them to reexamine the ACTP assignment criteria or set up an overcost allowance.

 

 

 

On the European Level

 

 

September 12th - 14th ELEF Meeting in Pisa (Italy)

 

November 13th Helios H Day

 

 

A program aiming at promoting equal chances and integration for the handicapped. French Council for the Handicapped on European matters (CFHE) in Paris.

 

 

 

And for the first 4 months in 1997...

 

 

On the European Level

 

 

March 24th

 

Round Table at the MEDEC (medical exhibition) with RESO (network allowing health care to people in precarious situations) on "How to convey useful information to those whom access to health care is difficult? " in Paris.

 

 

April 3rd

 

Demonstration "Our local Partners for Health and Solidarity" in the Hospital Center in Beauvais.

 

 

April 11th

 

With Andar 42, an association against polyarthritis, meeting with the AGF (Assurances GJ nJ rales de France) (an insurance company) in Saint-Etienne:

 

- social protection of the handicapped

- advantages of the "disabled" card

- conveyance of estate

- tax regulation for "Handicap Savings" and "Survival Allowance".

April 19th

 

 

General Meeting in Paris

 

 

Meeting of diseased with physicians. Subject matters:

 

- mouth ulcerations

- lupus and pregnancy

- pain and immunology

- molecular biology research for lupus

 

 

On the regional level

 

 

April 26th Nord/Lille

 

Visceral signs of lupus and therapeutical aspects.

 

 

On the European Level

 

 

January 24th European Coordination of the Organizations for Rare Disorders in Evry.
